Hawthorn Handled Sword Stick with Silver Collar
This sword stick should be considered in two parts:
The handle, collar and blade are early 19th century; the collar has a makers mark for McHattie & Fenwick, Edinburgh (1799-1807) and the blade is a good fullered triangular steel with an edge, ending in a fine point.
The scabbard has been made to appear as Hawthorn and the brass ferrule is also later.
That having been said, the sword stick is still a handsome piece.

Blade - 26" (66cms)

Hawthorn Sword Stick
Late 19th Century country made sword stick, steam bent handle, split Hawthorn scabbard with a white metal collar and ending in a brass ferrule. The blade is round at the handle and becomes square as you move down the shaft, more a stabbing weapon then a blade.

Blade length - 24.5" (62cms)
